On Friday, 22nd November 2024, DisComPoSE Principal Investigator Domenico Cecere will participate in the international conference Esperienza della scoperta e memoria dei disastri. Strumenti, fonti, metodologie, which will be held at the Department of Architecture of the University of Roma Tre.

This event is organized by Francesca Mattei, Giulia Ceriani Sebregondi, and Danila Jacazzi as part of the activities of the PRIN 2022 project VeLoCi – The Vesuvian Lost Cities before the ‘Discovery’. Sources, Experience, Imagery in the Early Modern Period. The conference aims to explore, from historical, methodological, and comparative perspectives, the relationship between the loss and rediscovery of artistic and monumental works that disappeared due to catastrophic natural events.

Cecere’s presentation, scheduled at the beginning of the conference, is titled Il Regno di Napoli e l’esperienza delle calamità in età moderna. Saperi, memorie, pratiche di risposta (The Kingdom of Naples and the Experience of Disasters in the Early Modern Period: Knowledge, Memories, and Response Practices).

Milena Viceconte, a former member of the DisComPoSE team and currently a research fellow on the VeLoCi project, will also participate in the conference.
